What we collect, why, who helps us run Become, and how to have it deleted. Written to be read.

Last updated: October 7, 2026

The short version. We use what you give us to build your path and to let the Host know your context. We don’t sell it, we don’t show ads, we don’t use analytics trackers, and we don’t train AI models on it. Become uses YouTube API Services; when you watch an episode, YouTube’s player and Google’s Privacy Policy apply. Email privacy@tobecome.me and we’ll delete your data within 7 days.

1. Who we are

This policy covers the website at tobecome.me and the Become app (together, “Become”). Become is operated by its founder, as an individual developer. Questions or complaints: privacy@tobecome.me.

2. Become uses YouTube API Services

Become uses YouTube API Services to find episodes, read their public details, and play them. By using Become you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and YouTube’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

  • What we access from YouTube: public information about public videos and channels: titles, descriptions, channel names, length, publication dates, view, like and comment counts, and thumbnails. We use it to choose episodes for paths and to show them to you.
  • What we don’t access: your YouTube or Google account. Become does not ask for permission to your YouTube data, and does not read your watch history, subscriptions or playlists.
  • How long we keep it: we keep public YouTube data only as long as we need it to run your path, and we refresh or delete stored YouTube data at least every 30 days.
  • The player: episodes play in YouTube’s embedded player. When it loads or plays, YouTube may set cookies or use similar technologies on your device and collect information as described in the Google Privacy Policy, and may show ads. Those ads are served by YouTube, not by Become.
  • Revoking access: if you signed in to Become with Google, you can remove Become’s access to your Google account at any time at Google’s security settings page.

3. What we collect

  • Account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google (and the profile details Google shares when you choose to sign in that way).
  • What you tell the Host: your answers when your path is set up (your goal, what gets in the way, why now, how it feels, what success would look like), and how you prefer to be addressed.
  • What you do in a path: listening progress, insights you catch, actions you create and complete, quiz answers, the Practice you take on, and your conversations with the Host.
  • Voice: when you talk to the Host by voice, your audio is streamed in real time to our speech provider to run the conversation. We don’t record or keep your audio. A text transcript of the conversation may be kept, like your typed conversations, so the Host can remember it.
  • Beta list: your first name, email, and anything you choose to write in the optional field.
  • Technical: standard logs our hosting and database providers keep to run and secure the service (such as IP address and request times).

4. How we use it

  • To build your path from your words, and to let the Host know your context when it talks with you.
  • To keep your progress and resume where you left off.
  • To invite you to the beta and tell you about Become (you can opt out at any time).
  • To keep Become secure and working, and to fix problems.

We don’t sell your information. We don’t use it for advertising. Become doesn’t train any AI model on your data.

5. Who helps us run Become

We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf to run Become:

  • Supabase: database, sign-in and server functions.
  • Netlify: hosting the website and app, and receiving beta sign-ups.
  • Anthropic: the language models behind the Host’s text conversations and the building of paths.
  • Google: YouTube API Services; Google Cloud for building paths, the Host’s synthesised voice, and real-time voice conversations; Google sign-in if you choose it.
  • Supadata: transcripts of public videos. No personal information is sent to it.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

6. Cookies and storage on your device

Become stores a few things in your browser so it works: your sign-in session and your listening progress. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. YouTube’s embedded player may set its own cookies (see section 2). This website loads fonts from Google Fonts.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account and path data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete it, or delete your account, we delete it within 7 days, apart from anything we’re legally required to keep. Beta-list entries are deleted when you ask, or once the beta ends if you didn’t join.

8. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete your data, or to stop emailing you. Email privacy@tobecome.me. We’ll act on a deletion request as soon as possible and within 7 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to it is restricted, and each person’s data is separated at the database level. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we’ll tell you.

10. Children

Become is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

11. International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States, the European Union and other countries. Where required, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards.

12. Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date above, and tell you directly if the change is significant.

13. Contact
